UK travel credit cards, points values and transfer partners on AwardHack

AwardHack now supports the UK. You can track 17 UK travel credit cards in pounds: Amex Membership Rewards, British Airways Avios, Virgin Points, HSBC Premier Rewards, Nectar, Marriott Bonvoy and cash back. Every card's annual fee, welcome bonus and statement credits are in GBP, and every point is valued in pence. If you also hold cards from the US, Canada or the Nordics, AwardHack shows each card in its own currency and converts your totals to the currency most of your cards use.

What you can do with UK cards

  • Track your cards with their annual fees, renewal dates and welcome bonus progress in pounds.
  • Use your statement credits: the Amex Platinum's £100 UK and £100 overseas dining credits each half-year, its lululemon and Oura credits, the Preferred Rewards Gold's Deliveroo credit, the business cards' Amex Travel, Indeed, Dell and Alamo credits, and the BA Accelerating Business card's £200 Avios Hotels credit. Companion and upgrade vouchers, and the Marriott card's free night, are there too, to tick off once you've earned and used them.
  • Track point balances for Amex Membership Rewards UK, HSBC Premier Rewards and Nectar, alongside Avios, Virgin Points and Marriott Bonvoy.
  • Find transfer partners for Amex Membership Rewards UK and HSBC, with their UK ratios.

All 17 UK cards at a glance

Annual fees are the regular primary-card fee, before first-year waivers. Earn rates are points (or percent cash back) per £1.

What UK points are worth, in pence

AwardHack values each program at what a points collector can reasonably expect, the same way it values US programs, and shows the cash-out rate as a floor. Values are in pence per point.

ProgramAwardHack valueFloorBasis
British Airways Avios1.0p0.5p (Nectar)Head for Points' rule of thumb
Virgin Points1.0p0.5p (Virgin Red)Head for Points

Nectar0.625p0.5p (Sainsbury's and Argos)Converts to Avios at 400:250
Marriott Bonvoy0.5p0.3pHead for Points, September 2026

Multiply a card's earn rate by the value to compare cards fairly. The Amex Gold's 2x on flights booked with airlines at 1p is worth 2%, the Barclaycard Avios Plus's 1.5 Avios is worth 1.5% everywhere, the Nectar Amex's 2 Nectar points at 0.625p are worth 1.25%, and the HSBC Premier World Elite's 3 points at 0.5p is worth 1.5%. Barclaycard Rewards pays 0.25% in cash, but it is in the list because it charges no fee on spending abroad, where most UK cards add 2.99%.

Where UK points transfer

Two UK bank programs transfer to airlines and hotels: Amex Membership Rewards and HSBC Premier Rewards. Neither publishes its partner list outside the logged-in rewards site, so the ratios below come from Head for Points, MaxYourTrip and The Point Calculator, and they agree with each other.

HSBC Premier RewardsIHG One Rewards, Wyndham Rewards2:1
  • Emirates moved from 4:3 to 2:1 on February 1, 2026, and Accor joined Membership Rewards on May 13, 2026.
  • Etihad stopped taking UK Membership Rewards transfers on June 22, 2026. HSBC still transfers to it.
  • Aer Lingus isn't a direct partner: move Membership Rewards to British Airways and combine the Avios.
  • Nectar isn't a bank program, but Nectar points convert to Avios at 400:250 (and Avios back to Nectar), so the Nectar Amex works as a low-fee Avios card.

April 1, 2027British Airways Amex Premium PlusTier points from spend become 1 per £10, capped at 3,000 a year

Two recent changes are already in the data: since October 7, 2026, the BA Premium Plus earns a flat 1.25 Avios per £1 (it used to earn 1.5, and 3 on BA), and the BA Accelerating Business card earns 1.25 Avios and gives up to £200 a year back on Avios Hotels and Car Hire.

Companion and upgrade vouchers

Most UK airline cards reward a year's spending with a voucher instead of extra points:

  • British Airways Amex: an economy 2-for-1 companion voucher after £15,000 in a card year.
  • British Airways Amex Premium Plus: a 2-for-1 companion voucher in any cabin, including Club World and First, after £15,000.
  • Barclaycard Avios and Avios Plus: a cabin upgrade voucher for an Avios booking, or 7,000 Avios, after £20,000 (Avios) or £10,000 (Avios Plus).
  • Virgin Atlantic Reward and Reward+: a companion seat or a cabin upgrade on Virgin Atlantic after £20,000 (Reward) or £10,000 (Reward+).

The benefits tracker lists each card's voucher, and the Marriott Bonvoy Amex's free night after £25,000, so you can keep track of them each card year; untrack any you don't plan to earn. They have no cash value, so they aren't counted in a card's value on AwardHack.

How welcome bonuses are counted

AwardHack shows each card's current public offer. Where an offer is raised for a limited time, as on the HSBC cards and the Amex Platinum, Gold, Business Platinum and Business Gold, it is marked as a limited-time offer with its end date and the usual offer. The Amex cards' Selfridges gift cards are counted at 1p per pound of gift card when the bonus is valued. Amex, Barclaycard and BA cards limit bonuses to people who haven't had a similar card recently, often in the last 24 months, so check the terms before you apply.

How to get started

  1. Create a free account, or sign in.
  2. Open the dashboard and add your cards. UK cards show a 🇬🇧 flag in the card picker.
  3. Add your point balances in the points tracker, and mark statement credits as you use them in the benefits tracker.

How this data was checked

Every card was checked on October 31, 2026, against the issuer's product page, summary box or terms, with Head for Points, Points Well Made and The Point Calculator as cross-checks. Amex and HSBC show their transfer partners only after you log in, so those ratios rest on UK points blogs, which agree with each other. Point values follow Head for Points. The raised Amex Platinum and Gold offers that started on November 4, 2026, and the Nectar Amex, were checked and added that day. Offers change often, so confirm the current offer on the issuer's site before you apply.

FAQ

Which UK credit cards does AwardHack support?

17 travel cards: 14 personal cards from American Express, Barclaycard, Virgin Money and HSBC, and 3 Amex business cards. They cover Amex Membership Rewards, British Airways Avios, Virgin Points, HSBC Premier Rewards, Nectar, Marriott Bonvoy and cash back.

Are UK cards shown in pounds?

Yes. Annual fees, welcome bonus spending, statement credits and point values for UK cards are all in GBP, with points valued in pence. If you also hold cards from another country, each card keeps its own currency and totals are converted, marked with "≈".

How much is an Avios worth?

AwardHack values Avios at 1p each, Head for Points' rule of thumb. Converting Avios to Nectar points gets 0.5p, and long-haul business class redemptions can get much more.

How much are Amex Membership Rewards points worth in the UK?

1p each, because they transfer 1:1 to British Airways Avios and Virgin Points. Using them as a statement credit gets about 0.45p.

Which UK points transfer to airlines?

Amex Membership Rewards UK (to British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Iberia, Qatar Airways, Flying Blue, Cathay Pacific, Delta, Qantas, SAS, Singapore Airlines and Emirates) and HSBC Premier Rewards (at 2:1 to British Airways, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Air India, Cathay Pacific, Flying Blue, Qantas and Singapore Airlines).

Which UK cards give a 2-for-1 companion voucher?

The British Airways American Express cards. The free card gives an economy voucher and the Premium Plus a voucher in any cabin, each after £15,000 of spending in a card year. The Virgin Atlantic Reward cards give a companion seat or upgrade voucher after £20,000 (Reward) or £10,000 (Reward+).

Can I track UK and US cards together?

Yes. Each card shows its amounts in its own currency, and your totals are converted to whichever currency most of your open cards use.
