Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables Map: Find Restaurants for Your $300 Dining Credit
The dining credit is easy to lose
The Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with up to $300 a year in dining credits, but only at restaurants in the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables program. It's split into two halves:
- Up to $150 from January through June
- Up to $150 from July through December
Unused credit doesn't roll over. If you don't eat at a participating restaurant before June 30 or December 31, that $150 is gone.
The hard part is knowing which restaurants count. The list lives inside OpenTable, it changes over time, and it's spread across dozens of cities. This map puts all of it in one place: 429 Exclusive Tables restaurants in more than 90 US cities, searchable by city, cuisine or neighborhood. It also flags the 173 restaurants that sell gift cards online, for when you can't get to a dinner before the deadline.
How to use the Exclusive Tables map
-
Search your city. Type a city, restaurant name, cuisine, neighborhood or address. You can also just pan and zoom the map.
-
Switch between Map View and Search View. The map shows clusters you can zoom into, with a side panel listing the restaurants in view. Search View shows the same restaurants as cards, 12 per page.
-
Open a restaurant for details. Click any restaurant to see photos, rating, estimated price per person, hours, dress code, parking and private dining info where available.
-
Tick "Only show restaurants with online gift cards" if you want to use the credit without booking a meal right now.
-
Click "Purchase Gift Card" or "Make a Reservation." Gift card links open the restaurant's own online gift card page. For restaurants without one, the button takes you to the restaurant's website instead.
Tip: Gift card links are curated by hand. Before you pay, check that the page belongs to the same restaurant (and the same location, for restaurants with more than one).
Before your first purchase: link your card in OpenTable
Chase's terms require you to sign in to OpenTable (or create a free account), verify your Sapphire Reserve card and add it to your OpenTable account. New cardholders may need to wait up to 4 business days after opening the account before the card can be added.
After that, you pay with your Sapphire Reserve at a participating restaurant and the statement credit is applied automatically. Many cardholders report the credit posts no matter how the table was booked, or whether it was booked at all, as long as the charge comes directly from the restaurant.
Chase says credits should post within 3 business days but can take up to 4 weeks.
The gift card strategy, and its real risks
Some Exclusive Tables restaurants sell gift cards on their websites. The idea is simple: buy a gift card with your Sapphire Reserve before the deadline, the charge comes from the restaurant, the credit posts, and you eat there whenever you want.
Cardholders have reported this working at many restaurants. But you should know what Chase's terms actually say before relying on it:
- Purchases must be identifiable by Chase as made directly with the restaurant.
- Chase lists gift cards, merchandise and third-party services as examples of purchases that may not be identifiable and will therefore not qualify.
- Purchases through third-party payment processors or delivery platforms don't qualify.
So a gift card purchase is a gamble that usually pays off, not a guaranteed use of the credit. Results vary by restaurant, depending on how the purchase is processed. If the credit doesn't post, you still have a gift card to a restaurant you chose, which is why it pays to pick one you'd actually go to.
Why most of the links go to Toast: 171 of the 173 gift card links in the map go to Toast, the point-of-sale system many restaurants use. Those gift cards are sold through the restaurant's own Toast page rather than a separate gift card marketplace. That doesn't guarantee the credit posts, but it's the closest thing to buying directly from the restaurant online.
Worked example: using both halves in 2026
It's mid-October. You haven't used your July to December credit, and you won't be in a big city before New Year's.
- Open the map, search Chicago and tick the gift card filter. 14 of Chicago's 29 Exclusive Tables restaurants show a gift card link.
- You pick a restaurant you've wanted to try, check that the gift card page matches, and buy a $150 gift card with your Sapphire Reserve in late October.
- Over the next few days, watch for a $150 statement credit. If it posts, your second-half credit is used. If it hasn't posted after a few weeks, you know this restaurant may not trigger it, and you still have time to try a dinner elsewhere before December 31.
- On January 1 a fresh $150 opens up, which you can use in person when you're in Chicago and spend the gift card on the same trip.
Don't leave it until the last week. Chase notes that merchant processing delays can push a purchase into the next credit period. A gift card bought on December 30 could post in January and count against the new half instead.
What the data shows
All figures come from the restaurant list behind the map.
429 restaurants in more than 90 cities, across 30 states plus Washington, DC. Most cities have only a handful: 38 of them have exactly one participating restaurant.
| City | Restaurants | With online gift cards |
|---|---|---|
| New York | 43 | 9 |
| Chicago | 29 | 14 |
| San Francisco | 24 | 15 |
| Los Angeles | 22 | 8 |
| Philadelphia | 17 | 10 |
| Washington, DC | 16 | 6 |
| Houston | 15 | 8 |
| Denver | 12 | 7 |
Gift card coverage varies a lot by city. About 60% of San Francisco's Exclusive Tables restaurants sell gift cards online, compared with about 20% in New York. If you live in New York, you'll mostly be using the credit in person.
The typical meal is around $70 per person. That's the median estimated price across the 379 restaurants with a price estimate. A $150 half-year credit covers a dinner for two at most of them.
American and contemporary American restaurants dominate (99 between them), followed by Italian (34), steakhouses (23) and seafood (18).
When the gift card route makes sense
You're close to a deadline. Late June and late December are when most credits get wasted. A gift card bought a few weeks early locks in a restaurant purchase before the window closes.
You don't live near participating restaurants. Exclusive Tables is concentrated in big cities. A gift card to a restaurant in a city you visit regularly lets you use the credit now and eat there on your next trip.
You'd rather pick the date. Buying the gift card handles the credit, and dinner happens when it suits you.
It makes less sense if you live near several participating restaurants and eat out often. Paying for a regular dinner is the most reliable way to trigger the credit.
What this map doesn't do
- It doesn't confirm that a credit will post. The gift card filter shows which restaurants sell gift cards online, not which purchases Chase will credit.
- It doesn't make reservations. Booking happens on OpenTable or the restaurant's site.
- The program list changes. Restaurants join and leave Exclusive Tables. If a restaurant has just left the program, check OpenTable before spending.
- It covers the US only, since that's where the restaurants in our list are.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Chase Sapphire Reserve dining credit work?
You get up to $150 in statement credits from January through June and up to $150 from July through December, for dining at Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables restaurants. That's up to $300 a year. The credit is applied automatically once your card is linked in OpenTable.
Do I need to book through OpenTable to get the dining credit?
You need to add your Sapphire Reserve to your OpenTable account, which Chase requires to activate the benefit. Cardholders widely report that the reservation itself doesn't have to be made on OpenTable, as long as you pay the restaurant directly with the card.
Do restaurant gift cards trigger the Sapphire Reserve dining credit?
Often, but not reliably. Many cardholders report the credit posting after buying a gift card directly from a participating restaurant's website. Chase's terms, however, list gift cards as a type of purchase that may not qualify. Buy from the restaurant's own gift card page, and only at a restaurant you'd be happy to eat at either way.
How many restaurants are in Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables?
Our list has 429 restaurants in more than 90 US cities. New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles have the most.
Does takeout or delivery count?
Orders through delivery apps like DoorDash or Uber Eats don't count, since Chase excludes third-party delivery platforms. Takeout ordered and paid for directly with the restaurant is generally reported to work.
How long does the dining credit take to post?
Chase says within 3 business days, but it can take up to 4 weeks.
Does the Sapphire Preferred get the Exclusive Tables credit?
The $300 Exclusive Tables dining credit is a Sapphire Reserve benefit. Check your own card's benefits page for what applies to you.
Keep track of every Sapphire Reserve credit
The dining credit resets twice a year, the Edit credit once a year, and the travel credit on your card anniversary. The Benefits Tracker keeps all of them in one view. Traveling? The Edit Hotels Map finds Sapphire Reserve hotels where two $250 credits stack on one stay. If you also carry an Amex card with a Resy dining credit, the Resy Gift Card Map does the same job for Resy restaurants.
The bottom line
The Sapphire Reserve dining credit is $300 a year that's easy to lose to a deadline. Use the map to find participating restaurants near you or in a city you're visiting. If you can't get to a dinner in time, a gift card from a restaurant's own site often triggers the credit, but Chase doesn't guarantee it, so buy early and only from a place you'd want to eat anyway.
