Once per lifetime
You can't get the Sapphire Preferred while you have it open, and you may not get its welcome bonus if you've ever had this card or earned its bonus before, including if you got it by upgrading or product changing. Having the Sapphire Reserve doesn't block it. Chase usually shows a pop-up before checking your credit if you're not eligible, and may also look at how many cards you've opened and closed.
