How to enter the United States

What to apply for, what it costs and where to apply.

Visa Waiver Program citizens need an approved ESTA (US$40.62 since 16 October 2026) for stays of up to 90 days; everyone else needs a B-1/B-2 visa. Since 1 January 2026, new B, F, M and J visas are suspended for nationals of 39 listed countries, including Nigeria. A proposal to make five years of social media history mandatory on ESTA has not taken effect, and the field is still optional.
