Which card should I get?
The best card depends on what you want out of it, what fee you'd pay and how much you spend. Five quick questions and we'll shortlist the cards that fit, with what each is worth in its first year.
Common questions
What's a good first travel credit card?
One that earns flexible bank points, which move to many airlines and hotels, with a fee you're comfortable paying and a welcome bonus you can earn with your normal spending. If you'd rather not think about points, a no-fee cash back card is a fine start.
What is the Chase 5/24 rule?
Chase usually declines applicants who have opened five or more personal credit cards, from any bank, in the last 24 months. If you plan to get several cards, it often makes sense to start with Chase.
Is a card with an annual fee worth it?
Only if what you'll actually use (credits, perks and the points you earn) is worth more than the fee. A bigger fee usually brings a bigger welcome bonus, which makes the first year easier to justify than the second.
