Is my card worth its annual fee?

Premium cards pay for themselves only if you use what they come with. Answer two questions and we'll line up the tools that tell you whether yours does, already filled in for your card.

Common questions

How do I know if a credit card is worth the annual fee?

Add up only the credits and perks you'd really use, at what they're worth to you, and compare that with the fee. A $300 credit you'd never spend is worth $0. The Card Value Calculator does this for one card, with the welcome bonus counted separately for the first year.

What should I do before my annual fee posts?

Decide whether you'd keep the card at its full fee. If not, many issuers offer a retention offer when you call, and most let you switch to a lower-fee card in the same family, which keeps the account and its history open. The Card Recommender shows which cards yours can change to once your cards are added.

How do I avoid wasting card credits?

Most credits reset monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly, and anything unused is lost. AwardHack's Benefits Tracker lists every credit by when it resets, so you can see what's left before it's gone.
