# Benefits Tracker: Track Every Credit Card Credit Before It Expires

## Premium cards pay you back in pieces

A premium card's annual fee is charged once. Its credits come back in
pieces: $15 this month, $100 this quarter, $300 this half-year, each on
its own clock and each gone forever if you miss the window.

The Amex Platinum alone has twelve dollar credits on five different reset
schedules. The Chase Sapphire Reserve has nineteen. Hold two or three
premium cards and you're juggling dozens of small deadlines, which is
exactly how hundreds of dollars a year go unused.

The Benefits Tracker keeps every credit for every card in one place. Add
a card and its credits load automatically, each with the right reset
cycle. Log what you've used, sort by what's expiring soonest, and see at a
glance how much value is left on the table this year.

## How to use the Benefits Tracker

1. **Sign in and add a card.** Click **Add New Card** and pick your card.
Its recurring credits load automatically from AwardHack's benefits
   database.

2. **Add the card's open date.** Credits that reset on your card
anniversary (like an annual travel credit) or every four years (like
Global Entry) need it. If a date is missing, the credit shows an
   **Add Date** button.

3. **Log what you use.** Enter the amount used for the current period on
each credit, or use **Mark used for whole year** for credits you've
fully used. Step back to earlier periods to fill in past months.
Click **Save Now** in the banner that appears when you have changes.

4. **Sort by what matters.** **Expiring Soon** puts the credits closest
to resetting at the top. **Highest Amount** puts the biggest credits
first. Switch between individual cards or view **All Cards** at once.

5. **Untrack what you'll never use.** If you'll never use a credit, use
**Untrack benefit** from its menu. It drops out of your totals, so
your numbers reflect only the credits you care about. **Resume
   tracking** brings it back.

6. **Watch the summary.** The tiles at the top show **Total Benefits
Value**, **Remaining to Use**, **Unused Benefits** and the remaining
value for the card you've selected.

> **Tip:** Do a two-minute check on the first of every month. Monthly
> credits are the ones that slip, and they reset on the 1st.

## What's in the benefits database

AwardHack's benefits database covers more than 60 cards and over 300
individual benefits, about 260 of them with a dollar value. The rest are
perks like elite status or free night certificates that you track as
used or unused.

The credits reset on six different schedules:

| Reset cycle | How it resets | Benefits in database |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------ | -------------------- |
| Calendar year | January 1 | 131 |
| Monthly | 1st of each month | 51 |
| Every four years | From your card's open date | 27 |
| Card anniversary | Each year on your card's open date | 26 |
| Quarterly | Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct | 15 |
| Semi-annual | Jan to Jun, Jul to Dec | 11 |

The tracker labels each period the way you'd think about it: the month
("Oct 2026"), the quarter ("Q4 2026"), the half ("H2 2026"), or your
anniversary year ("Anniv 2026-2027").

The four-year credits are almost all Global Entry or TSA PreCheck: 27
cards in the database include one. They're easy to forget because you
only use them twice a decade.

## Two premium cards, credit by credit

Here's how the credits on the two most popular premium cards break down
by cycle in the tracker.

### Amex Platinum ($895 annual fee)

| Cycle | Credits | Per year |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | -------- |
| Monthly | Uber Cash $15, Uber One $10, digital entertainment $25, Walmart+ $12.95 | $755 |
| Quarterly | Resy dining $100, lululemon $75 | $700 |
| Semi-annual | Hotel credit $300 | $600 |
| Calendar year | Airline incidentals $200, Oura Ring $200, CLEAR Plus $209, Equinox $300 | $909 |
| Every 4 years | Global Entry or TSA PreCheck $120 | $30 |

That's $2,994 a year at full use. Notice that **$755 of it comes in
monthly slices**. Skip four months of everything and you've lost about
$250.

### Chase Sapphire Reserve ($795 annual fee)

| Cycle | Credits | Per year |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | -------- |
| Monthly | DoorDash restaurant $15, DoorDash non-restaurant $20, Lyft $10, Peloton $10 | $660 |
| Semi-annual | Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables dining $150, StubHub $150 | $600 |
| Calendar year | The Edit hotel credits 2 × $250, select hotel brands $250, Apple TV and Apple Music $324 | $1,074 |
| Card anniversary | Travel credit $300 | $300 |
| Every 4 years | Global Entry or TSA PreCheck $120 | $30 |

That's $2,664 a year. The tracker also lists the perks that need $75,000
in annual spending and Chase's one-time 10th-anniversary offers for
2026, so you can track those too. Two recent changes are already
reflected: the DoorDash restaurant credit rose
from $5 to $15 a month on October 1, 2026, and Chase dropped the
January to June and July to December split on The Edit credits, so both
$250 credits can now be used any time in the year.

## Why small credits add up

It's tempting to ignore a $10 credit. But across a wallet, monthly credits
are where most of the value hides. The 51 monthly benefits in the
database range from $5 to $25 a month, and the most common amount is $10. Three cards with
three monthly credits each is nine small deadlines every month, more than
100 a year.

A few habits help:

- **Put monthly credits on autopilot.** Link streaming, Walmart+ or Uber
One subscriptions to the card that credits them, so they're used
  without thinking.
- **Plan semi-annual credits early.** A $300 hotel credit that resets in
June is easier to use in March than in the last week of the period.
- **Use Expiring Soon sorting weekly.** It's the fastest way to see
  what's about to disappear.
- **Untrack honestly.** If you'll never buy lululemon, untrack it. Your
totals become a real picture of what the card is worth to you.

## Using your history to decide whether to keep a card

At the end of the year, the tracker shows exactly how much of each card's
credits you used. That's the most honest input you'll ever have for a
keep-or-cancel decision.

Take your actual used total for the year into the
[Card Value Calculator](/tools/card-value-calculator) and compare it to
the renewal fee. If you used $1,200 of a card's credits against an $895
fee, it's paying for itself. If you used $400, it's time to ask for a
retention offer or downgrade.

---

## Free vs Pro

The free plan tracks benefits for **two cards**. If you add more, the
extra cards appear locked, and the summary shows how much value is
hiding on them. [Pro](/pro) unlocks unlimited cards.

Benefits are tracked per profile, so if you manage cards for a partner or
family member, each profile keeps its own cards and its own usage.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I keep track of credit card credits?

Add each card to the Benefits Tracker. Its credits load automatically
with the right reset cycle. Log what you use each period and sort by
Expiring Soon to see which credits are about to reset.

### Which cards does the Benefits Tracker support?

More than 60 cards have their credits preloaded, including the Amex
Platinum, Amex Gold, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred,
Capital One Venture X, Citi Strata Elite and popular airline and hotel
cards.

### When do credit card credits reset?

It depends on the credit. Monthly credits reset on the 1st, quarterly
credits in January, April, July and October, semi-annual credits in
January and July, and annual credits on January 1. Some annual credits
reset on your card anniversary instead, which is why the tracker asks for
your card's open date.

### Do unused credit card credits roll over?

Generally no. Most statement credits are use-it-or-lose-it for each
period, which is why tracking them matters.

### Is the Benefits Tracker free?

Yes, for up to two cards. Pro removes the limit so you can track every
card in your wallet.

### Can I stop tracking a credit I don't use?

Yes. Use Untrack benefit from the credit's menu. It's removed from your
totals and summaries, and you can resume tracking it any time.

### How much are the Amex Platinum credits worth?

At full use, the tracker counts $2,994 a year in Amex Platinum credits,
against an $895 annual fee. About $755 of that comes as monthly credits,
which are the easiest to miss.

---

## The bottom line

A premium card is only worth its fee if you collect what it gives back.
Add your cards, set their open dates, and spend two minutes on the first
of each month logging what you've used. At renewal time, you'll know
exactly what each card was worth to you, down to the dollar.
