# Passport Power-Off: The Daily Passport Strength Game

## Which passport gets you into more places?

[Passport Power-Off](/games/passport-power) puts two passports head to
head. You can see how many destinations the first one opens without a
visa. The second one's number is hidden, and you call it: **higher** or
**lower**? The number counts up, flashes green or red, and the next
passport slides in.

There are 206 passports in the game, scored against 247 destinations,
with the same data as AwardHack's
[passport ranking](/visa-free-countries) and
[Visa Checker](/tools/visa-checker). There's a new **daily** set at
midnight, the same one for everyone, and an **Endless** mode for when
you want more. It's free and there's nothing to sign up for.

## How to play

1. **Read the open card.** It shows a passport's flag, its name and how
many destinations its holders can enter without arranging a visa in
   advance.

2. **Make the call.** Does the hidden passport open more destinations or
fewer? Tap **Higher** or **Lower**. On a keyboard, press **←** or
**H** for higher and **→** or **L** for lower.

3. **Watch it count.** The hidden number counts up and the card turns
green if you were right or red if you weren't. The hidden passport
then becomes the open one, and a new one slides in.

There are never ties. Two passports next to each other always differ by
at least 8 destinations, so every call has a right answer.

## What the number counts

Each passport scores one point for every destination its holders can
enter without arranging a visa in advance. That counts:

- **Visa-free entry**, where you just show your passport at immigration
- **Freedom of movement**, such as EU citizens in other EU countries, and
the same within MERCOSUR in South America, the Gulf states (GCC) and
  the Eastern Caribbean (OECS)
- **Electronic travel authorizations (ETAs)**, an online approval that
isn't a visa, such as the US ESTA or the UK ETA
- **Visa on arrival**, including places that offer a choice of a visa on
  arrival or an e-visa

It doesn't count e-visas you must get before you fly, visas from an
embassy or visa center, special permits, simplified visas, places where
entry on that passport isn't confirmed, or the passport's own country.
Territories such as Hong Kong, Greenland and many Caribbean islands
count separately, so totals run higher than country counts.

The data was compiled in October 2025, with corrections checked through
October 2026. Six passports with no confirmed entry rules anywhere (such
as Abkhazia's and Somaliland's), the British National (Overseas)
passport and the Israeli travel document aren't in the game.

## Scoring

**Daily:** 11 passports, so 10 calls. A wrong call doesn't end the game:
you play all 10 and score out of 10. A score of 6 or more counts as a
win and keeps your daily streak going. When you finish, you get a recap
of all 11 passports and their numbers, and a Share button that copies
your result as a row of green and red squares, without giving away any
answers. The daily works through all 206 passports in a fixed shuffled
order, 11 a day, so a passport comes back roughly every 19 days.

**Endless:** random passports, one after another, until your first wrong
call. Your score is how many you got right in a row, and your best run
is saved. Runs of 10 or more count as wins in your Endless stats.

Your stats are kept in your browser, separately for Daily and Endless.
Close the tab halfway through a daily and it picks up where you left
off.

## Strategy tips

- **The top is crowded.** Singapore leads with 207 destinations, then
Spain (201) and Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden and the United Kingdom
(200 each). Every EU passport scores between 188 and 201, and the
game never puts two passports less than 8 apart next to each other, so
a European pair is always a close call.
- **Know the middle.** The typical (median) passport opens 111
destinations, and 78 of the 206 open 150 or more. If the open card is
far above the middle, the next one is more likely to be lower.
- **Don't trust wealth alone.** The United Arab Emirates (191) matches
the United States (191), while Saudi Arabia scores 99 and Qatar 117.
Caribbean and Latin American passports often punch above their weight:
Barbados scores 175 and Mexico 169.
- **The bottom is steep.** Syria (30), Afghanistan (32) and Yemen (36)
open the fewest destinations, and 33 passports open fewer than 60.

Planning a real trip? Look up any passport on its
[visa-free countries page](/visa-free-countries), or check one trip in
the [Visa Checker](/tools/visa-checker).

## FAQ

### How does Passport Power-Off work?

You see two passports. The first one's number of destinations is shown
and the second one's is hidden. Call whether the hidden number is higher
or lower, then the next passport slides in. The daily game has 10 calls
and Endless keeps going until your first wrong call.

### What does the number on each passport mean?

How many of 247 destinations its holders can enter without arranging a
visa in advance: visa-free, with freedom of movement, with an electronic
travel authorization (ETA) or with a visa on arrival. E-visas and
embassy visas don't count.

### Which passport is the strongest in the game?

Singapore, with 207 destinations, then Spain with 201 and Germany,
Italy, Japan, Sweden and the United Kingdom with 200 each. The United
States has 191.

### Does a wrong call end the daily game?

No. You play all 10 calls and score out of 10. A score of 6 or more
counts as a win and keeps your streak going. Only Endless mode stops at
your first wrong call.

### Can two passports have the same number?

Not next to each other. Neighboring passports always differ by at least
8 destinations, so every call has a right answer.

### Is it free?

Yes. It's free to play with no account, as often as you like.
