## What Canadian points are worth, in CAD

AwardHack values each program at what a points enthusiast can reasonably expect, the same way it values US programs, and shows the fixed redemption rate as a floor. Values are in Canadian cents per point.

| Program | AwardHack value | Fixed floor | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amex Membership Rewards (Canada) | 2.0¢ | 1.0¢ (statement credit) | Transfers 1:1 to Aeroplan |
| Aeroplan | 2.0¢ | 1.0¢ | Prince of Travel and Milesopedia both use 2.0¢ |
| RBC Avion (Elite cards) | 2.0¢ | 1.0¢ on travel | Transfers 1:1 to British Airways Avios |
| British Airways Avios | 2.0¢ | – | Prince of Travel and Milesopedia both use 2.0¢ |
| VIPorter | 1.5¢ | – | Prince of Travel and Milesopedia both use 1.5¢ |
| Scene+ | 1.0¢ | 1.0¢ | 100 points = $1 on travel |
| WestJet Rewards | 1.0¢ | 1.0¢ | 100 points = $1 |
| Marriott Bonvoy | 0.8¢ | – | Prince of Travel |
| BMO Rewards | 0.67¢ | 0.67¢ | 150 points = $1 on travel |
| PC Optimum | 0.1¢ | 0.1¢ | 10,000 points = $10 |

Multiply a card's earn rate by the value to compare cards fairly. The Cobalt's 5x at 2.0¢ is worth 10% on eats and drinks. The Scotiabank Gold Amex's 5x at 1.0¢ is worth 5%, BMO eclipse's 5x at 0.67¢ about 3.4%, and PC Optimum's 30 points per $1 at Loblaw stores 3%.

WestJet dollars became WestJet points on April 30, 2025, at 100 points per dollar, so a WestJet point is worth 1¢.

## Where Canadian points transfer

Only two Canadian bank programs transfer to airlines and hotels: Amex Membership Rewards Canada and RBC Avion. Scene+, BMO Rewards, PC Optimum and VIPorter have no airline or hotel transfer partners.

The Privilege and Reserve cards' Maple Leaf Lounge access becomes worldwide, and the Aeroplan Reserve adds a $200 annual dining credit. Existing cardholders pay the new fee at their first renewal on or after the change date.

Several welcome offers end soon: BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege and BMO VIPorter on October 31, 2026, both Scotiabank cards on November 1, the WestJet RBC World Elite on November 18, both RBC Avion cards on November 25, BMO Ascend on December 7 and PC World Elite on December 31.

## How welcome bonuses are counted

Many Canadian offers arrive in steps, for example points on your first purchase, more after a spending target and an anniversary bonus a year later. To compare cards fairly, AwardHack counts the steps you can earn in your first 6 months and shows the full offer, including anniversary bonuses, in each card's details. Cards that pay a monthly bonus through the first year, like the Cobalt and Gold Rewards, count the whole year.

## How to get started

1. [Create a free account](/sign-up), or sign in.
2. Open the [dashboard](/dashboard) and add your cards. Canadian cards show a 🇨🇦 flag in the card picker.
3. Add your point balances in the [points tracker](/trackers/points-tracker), and mark statement credits as you use them in the [benefits tracker](/trackers/benefits-tracker).

## How this data was checked

Every card was checked on October 21, 2026, against the issuer's own product page, terms or offer footnotes, with two Canadian card databases as cross-checks. BMO's website refused automated access that day, so the three BMO cards rest on Milesopedia, Frugal Flyer, Prince of Travel and the two card databases, which agree with each other. They will be re-checked first. Point values come from Prince of Travel and Milesopedia, and transfer ratios from Amex Canada and RBC, plus Canadian points blogs where Amex's partner page is out of date. Offers change often, so confirm the current offer on the issuer's site before you apply.
